What’s included?
This download includes x26 simple, predictable alphabet rhymes - one for every letter of the alphabet. Each rhyme is in colour and black and white (so x52 sheets in total). All rhymes are presented in landscape orientation.
What’s it for?
These rhymes have been designed for learners to practise reading simple words (images make clear what the nouns are) and practise each phonic sound using a pointer (or pointy finger!) Some rhymes are more ‘silly’ than others(!) This is a unique, fun and engaging way to practise reading and phonics that all learners will enjoy. These rhymes also provide a great opportunity to practise using one to one correspondence - an important early reading skill.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support.
Resource Details
The layout of every letter/sound rhyme is in the same format, making this a predictable and structured activity, ideal to keep learners engaged and independent.
The font used is ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ - size 50, so a large, ‘easy to read’ size.
Each rhyme follows this structure -
Ants on apples a, a, a.
Ants on apples a, a, a.
Ants on apples a, a, a.
Ants on apples!
Letters a, b, c, d, e, f ,g h, i, j, l, m, n, p, s include the word ‘on’ within the rhyme.
Letters k, o, q, r, t, v, w, x, y, z include the word ‘and’ within the rhyme.
The letter ‘u’ is… ‘upside-down umbrellas, u, u, u’.
How to use this resource
Learners might like to practise reading these on their own, in pairs or small groups or even as a class during a whole carpet session, reading/singing along together.
We recommend printing out the colour versions of these (the colours look so lovely!) and laminating each rhyme to help keep them sturdy, in good condition. Standing the set of lamintated rhymes on one end inside a plastic box postioned in a ‘reading area’ are really enticing, especially when stored with a ‘pot of pointers’ to use with the rhymes.
Suggestions
Classes of early years and year one children are really motivated to use these and very good at practising them quietly to themselves. Younger children have often been heard using ‘whispery voices’ while focused on this reading activity, independently (lovely to see!). Learners also really enjoy being able to use these rhymes with a ‘pointer’ (selected from a pot of pointers!) stored with the rhymes, ready to use.
Pointers are available separately (left/right handed or together), they just need securing to a lolly stick.

ANY issues with any of this please get in touch - we are happy to make changes.
What is it?
This download includes x6 sheets (portrait orientation) featuring x27 left-hand/finger ‘pointers’ and x27 right-hand/finger ‘pointers’ in rainbow/skin tone colours both as solid colours and outline only. x54 pointers included in total.
What’s it for?
These are for learners to hold and use to ‘point’ to their learning. These pointers were designed to help develop one-to-one correspondence when reading but could be just as helpful for a variety of activities, such as ordering the alphabet, counting objects etc. These resources are ideal to use alongside our ‘ants on apples’ set of rhymes - also available.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one as well as students needing additional learning support. If you use a ‘pointer’ you can guarantee they would like to use one too!
How to make it?
Print onto white card, follow dotted lines to cut out each hand/pointer shape, attach a wooden lolly stick to the back with sticky tape and they’re ready to use! We recommend keeping a (rainbow coloured!) set in a little pot in the reading area for learners to help themselves to. Colour choice can be very important and it can be especially motivating to be able to choose/use your favourite colour. You may wish for learners to have their own pointer, maybe matching their skin tone or in their favourite colour. Learners could write their name on the back of their own pointers for safekeeping.

What’s included?
This download includes x2 pages, portrait orientation, in pdf format.
What’s it for?
This resource has been designed to help learners become familiar with a clock face and where the numbers are positioned as part of learning about time. Learners cut/position and stick the numbers onto the clock face. Page 2 also includes a minute and hour hand with the challenge to position these on the completed clock face to show ‘3 o’clock’.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years and pupils in years one and two. This resource is also ideal for older learners with additional learning needs.
Resource layout
Simple (visual) instructions of what to do are included on both pages.
Page 1
Learners will need a pencil (to write their name and number date), scissors and a glue stick
+ The clock face has line indications of where the clock numbers should be placed (but not the order)
The (clock) numbers (to 12) are positioned below the clock face - ready to cut out - dotted lines guide cutting
Page 2
At the top of page 2 is an ‘extension question’ - which involves cutting out the ‘hour’ and ‘minute’ hands and placing these on the completed clock face to show ‘3 o’clock’.
The answers (a completed clock face - with hands displaying the time as 3 o’clock) are displayed at the end of page 2 for learners to self-check how they got on.
Recommendations
This PDF have been designed to print and use as practical cut/stick resource.
The sheets could be printed onto card and a split pin used to make an individual clock for each learner to move the hands and tell the time with.
This resource could also be laminated and once cut out the numbers could have velcro-style dots attached to the back (and on clock face) to enable reuse and improve durability.

What’s included?
This download includes x4 A4, landscape pdf sheets to practise ‘counting in 2’s’ from 0 to 50 (and back) using rainbow and two coloured circles/square shaped ‘beads’.
What’s it for?
This resource has been designed to practise ‘counting in 2’s to 50’ (and back!) while developing fine motor control. Whilst working on this activity learners will improve their number recognition and ability to order numbers, following the counting in 2’s pattern. Learners will compare numbers and consider which numbers come before/next in the pattern. This activity is ideal to consolidate knowledge of counting in 2’s while keeping learners busy and independent.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support.
Differentiation
For learners who are less familiar with counting in 2’s the rainbow colour versions of this resource offers more support. This is due to the limited amount of numbers in each colour and the rainbow colour pattern - learners can rely more on the pattern of the colours to guide them. The ‘two colour’ versions (yellow and blue) provide more challenge. This is due to there being lots of numbers in both yellow and blue, meaning learners need to work harder - focusing more on the numbers than the colours to identify ‘which’ number comes next in the number pattern while the two colours (yellow and blue) provide ‘some’ support.
Square beads or round beads?
Although we feel that the round beads look equally lovely, the square beads are much easier and quicker to prepare, requiring only straight cuts to separate them, saving time.
Resource Details
The layout includes x6 rows and x9 columns of circular/square shaped beads numbered from 0 - 50. Beads are arranged in rainbow order to help guide and motivate learners in finding the next number (and colour) in the pattern.
Dotted lines guide where to cut and where to punch holes is clearly indicated. The hole to punch is 5mm in size though a smaller hole punch could be used which would increase the fine motor skills challenge.
Learners will each need a piece of string/ribbon/pipecleaner to thread their paper/card beads onto.
Suggestions
We recommend that these beads are printed onto card to improve their durability.
Learners who might find ordering these numbers challenging may benefit from having a ‘counting in 2’s’ number line as a reference.

What’s included?
This download includes x4 A4, landscape pdf sheets to practise ‘counting in 5’s’ from 0 to 100 (and back) using ‘rainbow’ and ‘two-coloured’ circle/square shaped ‘beads’.
What’s it for?
This resource has been designed to practise ‘counting in 5’s to 100’ (and back!) while developing fine motor control. Whilst working on this activity learners will improve their number recognition and ability to order numbers, following the counting in 5’s pattern. This is due to the limited amount of numbers in each colour and the rainbow colour pattern - learners can rely more on the pattern of the colours to guide them. The ‘two colour’ versions (orange and purple) provide more challenge. What’s included?
This download includes x1 A4, landscape pdf sheet, with ‘square’ shaped (paper/card) 2D shape beads.
What’s it for?
This resource has been designed for learners to become more familiar with 2D shapes and creating a repeating pattern. Learners will first need to consider which 2D shapes (and colours) to focus on and as the pattern develops think about which 2D shape/colour comes next. Whilst learners work on this activity they will also improve and develop their fine motor skills.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children and pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support.
Resource Details
The layout includes x6 rows and x9 columns of square shaped beads each with a different coloured 2D shape. Beads are arranged in rainbow order to help guide and motivate learners in finding the next shape (and colour) in the pattern. This is an ideal activity to keep learners busy and independent.
2D shapes included are semi circles (pink), circles, (red), triangles (orange), diamonds (yellow), squares (green), rectangles (turquoise), stars (blue), pentagons (purple), hexagons (maroon). There are x6 beads of each shape.
Dotted guide line showing where to cut and punch a hole are included. The hole to punch is 4mm in size though a smaller hole punch could be used (to increase the fine motor skills challenge!)
These 2D shape beads will ‘hang’ from one corner once threaded - as the cover image demonstrates.
Learners will need a piece of string/ribbon/pipecleaner to thread their paper/card beads onto.
Differentiation
For more able learners let them decide which 2D shapes and colours to choose to create a repeating pattern of up to x9 2D shapes/colours. For those who are new to creating repeating patterns/find this tricky we recommend limiting the 2D shapes/colours learners are given, starting with just two and creating an alternate pattern initially. Once learners have been successful with two shapes/colours they can introduce additional shapes/colours to extend them.
Suggestions
We recommendation that these beads are printed onto card to improve their durability.
The square bead design makes the beads easy to prepare, requiring only straight cuts to separate them. We recommend cutting each row into strips of x9 2D shapes, punching holes along each strip then separating each 2D shape by cutting along the dotted lines. This is the most efficient way we have found!

What’s included?
This download includes x3 landscape orientation pdf sheets featuring x2 worksheets (different ability levels) to practise counting in 2’s (to 50).
What’s it for?
This resource has been designed for learners to practise counting in 2’s from 0 to 50 using rabbits/bunnies (each with two ears!) as a helpful visual guide. Answers are included on page 3.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for pupils in years one and two as well as early years children or older students needing additional learning support.
Resource Details
Page 1
Features x25 boxes with a rabbit in each and a large blank space under each image where the learner can write the correct 2’s number. This blank version is the more challenging sheet of the pair.
This page can also be printed and the adult can write some of the 2’s numbers in (if needed), leaving gaps for the learner to write to remaining 2’s numbers in the complete the boxes.
Page 2
Features x25 boxes with a rabbit in each and a large blank space under each image where the learner can write the correct 2’s number. This version includes one ‘helping number’ on each row (numbers 8, 16 and 50) to guide learners as they go. With support numbers included, this is least challenging sheet of the pair.
Page 3
The third page sets out the answers in exactly the same layout. Once they have completed the activity, learners could access this page themselves to check how they got on, encouraging autonomy.

What’s included?
This pdf download includes x5 landscape orientation sheets featuring x23 2D Shapes with clear step by step instructions to create colourful acetate/cellophane 2D shapes for (window) display.
What’s it for?
These 2D shapes have been designed to install and sense of awe and wonder - the shapes look beautiful when the sun shines through them and where the colour ‘falls’ depends on the position of the shape in relation to the sun which changes as the sun’s position changes.
The set gives an opportunity to showcase the whole set of 2D shapes together as a focus to encourage learners to recognise and name each 2D shape and become familiar with recognising and naming them as well as lots of exposure and so time to count the number of sides/corners and think about the properties of each e.g. which have straight/curved sides (or both!). The 2D shapes can of course be repositioned and displayed as you choose. A ‘2D shapes’ label (to be displayed with the set of shapes) is also included.
This resource would also support work on shadows and light/dark.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students who would appreciate a pop of colour shining through these shapes when the sun comes out!
Resource Details
There are x5 pages. The first page includes clear instructions and the remaining pages include the set of shapes and 2D Shapes word label.
2D shapes featured in this resource are: arrows (up and down), semi circle, circle, oval, ellipse, crescent, triangle, equilateral triangle, right angled triangle, diamond, rhombus, trapezium, parallelogram, square, rectangle, star, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, nonagon, decagon.
Suggestions
We recommend printing and making these letters out of white card - paper would be too flimsy and see-through so not effective. A set of coloured acetate/cellophane sheets is needed to make these - these are quite inexpensive online.
We also recommend backing every 2D shape in white card so that the coloured acetate/cellophane is concealed - this looks so much nicer on the window and makes each letter stronger however is twice the work and time and to do this x10 sheets of A4 white card will be needed (instead of x5 sheets).

This download includes x9 pdf pages, each featuring x10 robots (x3 black and white versions, x3 black and white with rainbow coloured dots versions and x3 rainbow (coloured) versions). All are in portrait orientation.
What’s it for?
These resources can be used to introduce learners to doubles and/or consolidate learners knowledge of doubles to 10.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support.
Resource details
This activity has been designed to write straight on. Each page clearly features ten robots with ten recap questions at the end. Each robot’s chest clearly shows one part of each double (in ‘dots’) in order/random order up to 10. Learners complete the other half (of each double) by drawing ‘dots’ e.g. with a thick felt pen onto the space on the right side of each robot’s chest. Learners then write the total number of dots on the line underneath to complete the sentence e.g. ‘Double 1 is 2.’
The robots and questions are both in order and random order - you choose which to use depending on what best suits the needs of your learner/s.
The x10 recap questions at the end enable learners to consolidate their ‘doubles knowledge’. In two of the colour version sheets the ‘outline colour’ of each ‘question box’ matches the robot colour - providing a visual link for the learner to check back to each corresponding robot, if needed, before committing to writing answers in the question boxes at the end.
There is a clear space at the top of each sheet for learners to write their name and a space to record the number date (top, right).

What’s included?
This download includes two resources split across x3 portrait orientation, pdf pages. These resources have been designed to use together.
What’s it for?
This resource is a carrot themed ‘hands on’ way to explore and consolidate knowledge of number bonds to 10. Learners match pairs of carrots which together make 10 (resource 1). Resource 2 (split across two pages) provides a space to record the number bond pairs once matched.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years and pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support.
Resource 1 - 'Carrot number bonds to 10’
This is one sheet of ‘carrot cards’ which need to be prepared prior to use - see details below. Print this page onto card.
Resource 2 - 'Carrot number bonds to 10 record sheet’
This is two sheets to record the matched number bonds to 10 on. Print page 2 onto card, page 1 is fine as paper.
Resource 1 details
An adult will need to prepare resource 1 prior to use.
This resource needs:
plain A4 white card to print on (two sheets - page 1 of resource two can be printed onto paper)
scissors
a glue stick
paper scorer
ruler Prior to folding the carrots it is advisable to use a round metal (ball-head) paper scorer and a ruler to draw a scored line (where indicated in the centre of each carrot-pair) to make folding quicker, easier and more accurate.
How to use Resource 1
Once carrots have been cut out and assembled place on a table top and shuffle, ready for learners to match. Learners match each number bond pair e.g. ‘10’ with ‘0’.
If a learner is unsure which number e.g. ‘9’ should be matched with they can turn the carrot that they are holding over to look for the answer displayed on the back of the carrot (e.g. revealing ‘1’) This encourages learners to be autonomous when working, enabling them to do this activity on their own.
Resource 2
Once learners have matched the number bonds to 10 carrots into pairs they place these onto the carrot outline shapes. Learners then write the numbers on the horizontal line provided and for each carrot number written they colour/tick this number of tiny carrot outline shapes above for both carrots. This enables learners to check that each pair of carrots (together) makes 10.
A ‘Number bonds to 10 checker’ is included at the base of the second sheet to support learners in checking each number bond pair together makes 10. A blank space is included in the centre of each carrot shape for the numerals 1 - 10 to be written if helpful for learners though blank should be fine for the purpose of counting.

What’s it for?
This resource has been designed to investigate the concept of ‘BIG’ and ‘small’ and explore vocabulary linked to this concept. The images included (as they are presented) don’t necessarily reflect whether (in the real world) the item is bigger/smaller than another. For example the yellow teacup (page 5) appears ‘bigger’ than the tree (also page 5) whereas in ‘real life’ this is not the case. Learners need to make well thought through choices when selecting pairs of images which are bigger/smaller than each other and be able to explain their reasoning!
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years aged children.
Resource Details
Page 1
Using page 1 through an adult led discussion learners could explore what the concept ‘big ‘ and ‘small’ means.
There are x10 pairs of images featured on page 1 which are big/small when compared in the ‘real world’. Learners could first identify which is the big/small item in each pair.

What’s it for?
This resource has been designed for learners to consolidate their understanding of number bonds to 5, ideal for a quick recap and to check knowledge.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years and Year 1 pupils as well as older students needing additional support with learning.
Resource Details
This resource has been designed to be a quick match activity - drawing a simple line to connect the pairs of number bonds.
Completing the activity relies on learners having some knowledge to match the pairs as counting objects (to check which pairs total five) are not provided in the lower part of this resource.
Page 1
In the upper section learners are to match the number bonds by drawing a line connecting each pair of numbers which make 5. Learners should use the dots provided to begin and end the connecting line between the number bond pairs. These dots can be found as ‘door handle dots’ (on the door of each house) and ‘black dots’ on each ‘moving van’ (positioned above the number).
Learners are supported when completing the upper section of this resource as ‘moving boxes’ are provided which learners can count to check.
In the lower section learners draw a line to match the number on the taxi with the number on the taxi rank sign which (together) make a total of five.
Learners are not supported when completing the lower section of this resource as counting objects (to check which pairs total five) are not provided.
Completing this section relies on learners having knowledge to match the pairs. However, for learners who need this support - objects (e.g. x5 miniature cars/small cubes) could be available.
Page 2
Answers. This page clearly shows all number bonds matched, displayed in the same layout as page 1 for easy comparison and quick reference.
Resource details
This PDF has been designed to print and use as practical write-on resource, it could be laminated to enable reuse. Lines can be drawn on the sheet (and wiped off if laminated). Learners could use a ruler to assist with accurate matching.

This resource has been designed for learners to consolidate their understanding of number bonds to 5, ideal for a quick recap to check knowledge.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years and Year 1 pupils as well as older students needing additional support with learning.
Resource Details
This resource has been designed to be a ‘quick match’ activity - drawing a simple line to connect the pairs of numbers which (together) make 5.
Completing this activity relies on learners having some knowledge (of number bonds to five) to be able to match the number pairs as counting objects (to check which pairs total five) are not always provided.
Where counting support is not provided for those learners who need it - suitable objects (up to 5) could be provided.
Page 2
Answers. This page clearly shows all number bonds matched, displayed in the same layout as page 1 for easy comparison and quick reference.
Resource details
These PDFs have been designed to print and use as practical write-on resources, they could be laminated to enable reuse. Lines can be drawn on the sheet (and wiped off if laminated). Learners could use a ruler to assist with accurate matching.

What’s included?
This download includes x2 A4 pages, landscape orientation, pdf format.
What’s it for?
This resource has been designed for learners to consolidate their understanding of number bonds to 10, ideal for a quick recap and to check knowledge. Support is provided as items (letters to post and the lit up storeys of each tower block building) are displayed to count and check - that each time the total of each pair is 10.

Resource Details
This resource has been designed to be a ‘quick match’ activity - drawing a simple line to connect the pairs of numbers which (together) make 10.
Page 1
In the upper section there is a row of ten tower blocks, each with a (numbered) main door. The number on the main door matches the number of storeys in each tower block that are lit up. In the middle and lower section are two rows of five postal vans, each with letters (to post). The number on each post van is the same as the number of letters. Learners are to match the number on each postal van with the number of a tower block by drawing a line to connect each pair of numbers which make 10.
Learners are supported by the visual supports provided - the lit up number of storeys of each tower block (labelled by the numbered main door of each building) and the number of letters to post, labelled with the number displayed on each postal van. Learners can count these items to check which total (together) make 10.
There is a space at the base of page 1 (left) for learners to write their name and a space to record the number date (top, right).
Suggestion
Learners could use a ruler to assist with accurate matching.
Although this PDF has been designed to print and use as practical write-on resource, it could be laminated to enable reuse. Lines can be then drawn on the sheet (and wiped off) if laminated.

Learners then match this number with the number of a tower block by drawing a line to connect each pair of numbers which make 10.
Learners are supported by the visual supports provided - the lit up number of storeys of each tower block (labelled by the numbered main door of each building) and the number of letters to post (counted and labelled). By counting the total number of items in each pair (the letters to post and lit up number of storeys in each tower block) learners can be sure they have correctly linked a number bond match of two items which together total 10.

Learners could use a ruler to assist with accurate matching.
